Health care in America vs. Canada’s Health Act
Healthcare in the United States of America consists of my different Insurance providers. Many of these Insurance providers are privately run companies. The cost of coverage is beyond the reach of many Americans, such as the poor, the elderly and the homeless. Americans who fall under certain categories have had access to healthcare with Medicaid and Medicare. There are too many Americans who fall between the cracks. So much of our population has not been able to get the care they needed.

Many indigent Americans do not have adequate access to healthcare. According to the American Medical Association, Americans with chronic illnesses would greatly benefit from access to healthcare. Improving these patients ability to get the care they require would reduce the number of unnecessary hospitalizations due to chronic illness.
All Canadians have equal access to healthcare. No Canadian will be discriminated against on the basis of income, age, health status. Although Canadians pay taxes for healthcare, no one is ever charged for services at the time they receive them. Canadians do have to wait longer than some insured Americans do for some services but overall, everyone gets the healthcare that they need.
Introducing the Affordable Care Act. "The intent of the Affordable Care Act is to ensure that all Americans have access to quality, affordable healthcare while significantly reducing the cost burden for this country" (Panning 2014). The Affordable Care Act has been a much-needed help to so many Americans with pre-existing medical conditions and those that are indigent and unable to afford the necessary healthcare. There have been many who oppose Healthcare Reform but due to the new legislature, it looks like it might be here to stay. There are still many Americans who have gone without coverage.
