I didn't try because I didn't care. Towards the ending year of sixth grade, I got my AVID recommendation letter. I signed up, applied, and got accepted. I came into seventh grade expecting to do the same in sixth grade, maybe even worse because the work would be harder. I can say that after one year of AVID, I improved so much.
CJ is making progress in all areas of tutoring: executive functioning, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing. Outstanding work, CJ! This term, CJ demonstrated a much improved effort in both transitioning and staying on task. While staying on task is sometimes challenging, CJ now understands that it is a skill that is required for academic success. CJ also made strong gains in reading this term; he is now reading and comprehending above grade level!
Avid has academically shaped me through leaps and bounds. I had always maintained pretty satisfying grades in school, but Avid has improved me so much. It had helped me stay organized with my school work along with how to manage my time. The main reason I had joined Avid is because I want to be prepared for college when it approaches. Avid will hopefully help me find the right school along with steering me in the right direction.
AVID an education opportunity An educational opportunity that I have taken advantage of is AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) a program geared to help students get to college and to prepare them for college, influenced me to take charge in my education and my path to college. I started AVID as a 8th grader. As a first generation bound college student; I felt lost. My family had no previous experience with college so they would not be able to help me. I felt like all the weight of school and college was on my shoulders, a 14 year old left seeking opportunities that would help achieve the American dream “college”.
Avid is designed to be that support system for students who are in the middle of the academic spectrum. In other words, students in which show potential. This is an exciting and beneficial program for students such as those who get exposed to skills and long life relationship. This would not be helpful since I have a support system and do not the skills I have been exposed to prior and currently. All in all, Avid is not for me.
The Sioux Indians were allied with many Native Americans during the civil war period. The Lakota tribes, which are apart of the total Sioux population, attacked the settlers and emigrants moving into the land forcing America to respond. America responded by sending an army to Lakota killing many women, men, and children. A series of short followed these attacks, which led the Sioux to flee west to their allies in Montana and the Dakota Territory. This action increased illegal settlement after the civil war, which led to another war shortly.
The AVID program has had a positive impact in my academics, and in my life by helping me focus, enrich, and solidify my goals. I can say with full confidence that AVID has become an integral part of my High School year that equipped me with the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in college. As an immigrant who came to the United States five years ago and English being my third language, the AVID program challenged me to think critically and strive to learn more. Personality wise, there are major changes that I observed once I joined the program.
High School Graduation The beginning of the Highs School year,was a new experience for me,because of begin alone in the school without knowing nobody, not knowing the language and have zero knowledge of the academic level i need it to have in order to graduate, on the mid senior year of high school,i got a call from the counselor Mr.Calume,he told me that, in order to graduate i need it to pass 4 states exams that can be only due 2 times per year semester,and i was in my last semester of high school,so the chances of me passing those test were low for me. There for, i meet some olds friends from when i was a child from my country (Venezuela) they have move to the same school i me,so they reached me some tips and trick to pass
Homework becomes very unpopular with the students. This is because homework is perceived by students to have taken their time away from school. Homework is also considered to stress students. Many of the teachers consider homework is very important given to students.
After school, from 3 to 6 p.m, is a critical period of time in a child’s life. After school programs help keep kids safe and inspire them to learn during that period of time. After school programs are organized programs that youth can participate in outside of a traditional school day. Enrolling children in after school programs would provide them with benefits that unenrolled children would not receive, such as reduce risky behavior and promote physical health. After school programs provide a safe environment for children, while positively impacting their academics, safety, and their future.
Home schooling is a trending concept that is popular mostly in US and around the world. Home schooling preferred often by the parents that have environmental concerns, religious beliefs, lack of confidence to the education quality of the public and private schools and inadequacy of curriculum. They believe that they can give better education to their children at home. According to Jamie Martin (Homeschooling 101: What Is Homeschooling, 2012), home schooling began to grow in the 1970s, when popular writers and researchers such as John Holt and Dorothy and Raymond Moore wrote about the educational reforms and they alleged that home schooling is a valid educational alternative.
For many years, a question has been ask trillions of times throughout the homes of families. What are you going to do after High School? Everyday you hear many different answers and bunch of different lectures of what you should and what shouldn’t you do. Having many honorable mentions such as Steve Jobs, Dave Thomas, or Kevin Rose shows that college after high school is not the only option. Four-Year Universities are not practical choice for most Americans students after High School because of the lack of preparation for a college education,Student are pressured that having a college degree is the only way to maintaining a stable financial life , and A college degree doesn 't pay off for years .
Many parents believe that homeschooling is the best option for their children. For those people who don’t know what exactly homeschooling is, “A home school is a school in which parents teach their children an academic curriculum at home instead of sending them out to a public or private school. Home schooling is legal throughout Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, Hong Kong, and South Africa. Home schooling is most popular in Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Home schooling is legally accepted in all 50 states of the U.S., but each state has its own laws that a family must adhere to.
Why the school system is bad - Arshia Education is very important for everyone and it will only get more important. Schooling is just plain bad. It used to serve a purpose, like the heart in a person 's body, but now it is basically just boring students more and more. Nowadays at the end of the day, we all just want to go home.

Unfortunately what many students are not told is that their intelligence is not defined by the marks they receive, but rather intelligence is defined by so much more than a letter on a report card.
