A person’s health can vary depending on the social and ethnic group to which he or she belongs to. Those of lower social class often have more health problems have a shorter longevity for numerous reasons. One major reason that those of lower social class have more health problems is because they often do not have access to the the same health care that those of higher social class do. Those of lower social class may not be able to afford to see the doctor for when they are ill or even just for regular checkups. Those of higher social class may also have access to more specialists and have better connections with health care providers where they can be seen quicker, more frequently, and in short notice. Due to the lack of ability to see a doctor, those of lower social class often have a shorter longevity because they are more susceptible to dying from illness. Another key point is that those of lower social class may also not have access to the proper foods, or to any food. Some races tend to hold more socioeconomic status, meaning that because they are a particular race they are viewed as a higher class. Some races are more at risk for certain diseases than others and also, sometimes those races tend to fall into a lower social class. For example, Native Americans are more likely to have a problem with abusing alcohol because of their ancestors and because they often do not have a lot of money they have less access to help or counseling. Together these two issues of race and social class can be a major influence on their longevity because of their predisposition towards certain diseases and their lower social class leaving them with little to no health care or proper
