SOCIAL CLASS AND POVERTY A. SOCIAL CLASS Social class is the class in the society. As the definition in Oxford dictionary, social class is a division of a society based on social and economic status. Besides being important in social theory, the concept of class as a collection of individuals sharing similar economic circumstances has been widely used in censuses and in studies of social mobility. The social and economic status becomes the indicator in set of hierarchical the social categories, upper, middle and lower classes, as the most common used. In society we see that there is a distinction which is applicable and widely accepted by the public. Poverty is a problem of a state in their developments which is multidimensional because in overcome the problems are not limited to the matters concerning the causal link involves the emergence but also preferences, values and politics. Poverty is not just an issue for developing countries, even developed countries also experienced poverty, although not as big as the state develops. The problem is the same but different dimensions. The issue of poverty in developed countries is the smallest part in their community components but for developing countries the issue becomes more complex because of the number of poor people for nearly half of the total population.
