Type 2 Diabetes Report- Obesity
My report is about whether obese people are at a higher risk of getting diabetes and why?
Obesity is one of the most common causes of Type 2 diabetes. People who are either overweight or obese add pressure onto the insulin within their bodies, causing problems controlling the blood sugar levels within our bodies. Being obese increases their chances of receiving type 2 diabetes, putting them at a much higher risk than those of us that are not obese or overweight. Type 2 diabetes is an issue because it can cause heart disease, neuropathy, nephropathy and other diseases.
Type 2 diabetes is a disease where people have issues in producing enough insulin to help control the body's blood sugar levels. Those who have diabetes have a very high blood sugar level and their body doesn’t produce enough insulin to help control it.
Beta cells are located in the pancreas and they are the cells that create the insulin that is needed to control the blood sugar levels in our body. Insulin is needed to help the body control the blood sugar levels from being too high or too low. Insulin is often referred

Obese and overweight people are told to control their weight because it is shown that people who are overweight and obese add pressure onto their bodies, making it harder for the pancreas to produce enough insulin to control the body's blood sugar levels. Obese people tend to eat more fatty, sugary foods than healthy foods, because a) healthy foods are expensive and b) fatty foods are cheaper. The Government is providing funds for families who are obese and overweight, they’re are trying to promote healthy foods in their homes and promote living an active life. The NZ Government is promoting this while trying to reduce the risk of obesity and therefore the risk of type 2 diabetes in both young children and
