I think college athletes should get paid while they’re still in college.
College athletes should get paid because they play for that school, unheeding the dangers of getting hurt. Kevin Ware from Louisville broke his leg in a game. Luckily, he came back from the injury, but others might not be that lucky. Devon Walker, safety for Tulane University, was playing Tulsa University when he hit a player, causing him to be paralyzed. He knew he could get hurt, but he didn’t care because he trusted Tulane would help him out if he did get hurt, and they did. But if they paid him, he wouldn’t have to trust them that they would help. How is he gonna get a job now that he can’t move? His whole family has to help him throughout his life, which probably isn’t what Mr. Walker wants.
NCAA should pay college athletes because without the Athletics program at every university, the schools would lose millions of dollars. Alabama University makes $81,993,762 just from football. A bunch of celebrities aren’t good with money, so they get brokers to tell them how to invest their money. Shaquille O’Neal, former NBA player, future hall of famer, spent his first million dollars 30 minutes after getting it. 30 minutes! He got a banker and his banker told him to return almost every expensive thing that he can unless he wanted to be one of the greatest NBA players in history, only to retire being broke. So Shaquille went back to college, got his degree, and now is very wealthy. Point is, is that he almost went broke just after entering the NBA, like most players. 60% of NBA players go broke after 5 years of being in the NBA.
