When people think of abortion, they typically think pro-life or pro-choice. When talking about abortion, you are talking about a fetus, which makes people stop and think about what is considered a human being and what rights the fetus should have. Abortion occurs more frequently than people would like to admit which is why you need to take the time to discuss this issue, along with any ethical concerns. Abortion has many ethical concerns which is why it is one of the most controversial and prevalent issues today. One of the biggest concerns surrounding abortion is rights that a fetus may have after a certain period. It is often argued that abortion is unlawful and violates the fundamental right to life. People argue and say that having an abortion takes away the fetus’s right to live, and no one should have the power to end someone else’s life. This ethical concern coincides with the religious argument that having an abortion is murder because you are taking someone’s life away from them by terminating the fetus. We must also think about the mother’s autonomy and how it may affect her. Any medical procedure done to the mother while pregnant not only effects the fetus, it also effects her personally. While she is pregnant her body is home to the fetus, but after birth the mother must deal with the repercussions left from carrying the child.
