As an educator, I will take the necessary steps during the first few days/weeks of school to orient myself to the needs and context of my students and to familiarize myself with the schools community. First, I will meet will the administration/principal to speak about the expectations for the year to come. We will discuss the schools overall goals as well as my goals as a teacher. Then, I will familiarize myself with the student's individualized educational program. I will review their annual and/or short term goals, evaluation results, academic achievement, functional performance, learning characteristics, strengths and weaknesses, social and physical development, management needs and related services. Next, I will meet with the teachers who worked with the students the previous year. There, I will gather information about the students style of learning, assessments, behaviors, incentives, accomplishments, strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, I will meet with the students parents to introduce myself and the expectations for the year. Lastly, I will administer a beginning of the year assessment to assist with determining the students goals for the upcoming year. Based on all the information gathered during the first few weeks of school from the administration/principal, coworkers, parents and students, I will devise a style of teaching that will work best for each student.
By the end of the academic year, I hope that all students will be on grade level, approaching grade level and/or have accomplishment their IEP goals. I would love for my
