I like the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice (JHNEBP) model, because it is a powerful problem-solving approach to clinical decision-making, and it has user-friendly tools to guide. According to Zaccagnini & White, “it is designed specifically to meet the needs of the practicing nurse and uses a three-step process called PET: practice question, evidence, and translation” (2015). The goal of this model is to ensure that the latest research findings and best practices are quickly and appropriately incorporated into patient care. Great choice!
Keeping an open mind and being transparent when doing a literature search is key in producing a comprehensive and meaningful literature review. Discussion 5: 1) Read “How to search evidence” PowerPoint, and 2) discuss at least 5 things what you learned about searching evidence. Five points learned from the Power Point include: 1. Using professional databases such as PubMEd, CINAHL, Cochrane, EBSCO, etc. is essential in finding reliable, current and valid data. 2.
Module 3 Assignment Brooke Gaillard UNA Evidence Based Practice and Nursing Scholarship NU-615 Dr. Michelle Nelson March 21, 2018 Module 3 Assignment Through patient experiences and past studies, the laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery has been beneficial in many obese patients. It has shown to improve self confidence and quality of life. After the gastric sleeve surgery has been done, and the patient typically experiences weight loss, and the majority of the time their overall health improves. Patients tend to have less joint pain and see improvements with their blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
Evidence based practice (EBP) is to demonstrate the best practice, which has been supported, with a clear rationale to back it up, while acknowledging the patient/clients best interest. In this professional outline it will be discussed why EBP is so important to start with student nurses career and continuing throughout the nursing career and the second main point will be on the impact it has on patient outcomes regardless of discipline. I believe if this mind set is instilled early in the nurses career the practice will evolve it a more proactive
Evidence-based practice will definitely be more likely to thrive in environments where nurses feel they are being supported by both management staff and available resources. When nurses are offered further resources such as hands on training or simulation training that is backed by evidenced based research they can feel more secure and confident in the job they are able to perform during their shift. Nurses can thrive in their work place organization by building onto their basic knowledge and therefor enabling the nurse to climb the clinical ladder. As our book states “continuing to apply learning contributes to ongoing evidence based practice as one uses newer research and theory as a part of one’s practice.” Nurses who take control of their
Although it’s not always the situation the amount of nursing care evaluation has expanded in the past 30 years. Nursing is no longer based on trial, error, intuition or traditional methods but relies on theory advancement and research as guide for practice. The dependence on research as a basis
“Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the integration of patient preferences and values, clinical expertise, and rigorous research to make decisions that lead to improved outcomes for patients and families” (Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt, 2015, p. 171). The need for evidence based practice will help ensure the patient will receive the highest level of quality of care. Each member of the health care team, work together with the common goal of identifying the needs of the patient and offering the most safe, efficient, and effective care. Patient and family centeredness is one of the values identified with the decisions that are being made on the behalf of the patient with evidence based practice (Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt, 2015, p. 176). By focusing
Before EBP was imbedded into healthcare, nurses relied in the advice of senior nurses and what they learned through education and trial and error. Floranc enightengal ……. However, it wasn’t until the mid-1800s that evidence-based medicine had its beginnings, but did not come into play until the year of 1972. Through many years different modifications, various groups of nurses have drafted their own versions of evidence-based practice guidelines into play.
1. CONCEPT 1-EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE IN NURSING This concept was deducted from module 2 with the topic “Concept of Evidence-based practice”. Evidenced-based nursing is a way of making decision and providing nursing care that is based on clinical issues and combine it with the most current, relevant research that is available on that issue. Evidence based nursing utilize the most up to date method of providing care, which have been proven via assessing high quality studies and statistically with significant research findings.
Congested heart failure (CHF) is one of the leading causes of death in the United States (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). There have been research studies conducted to provide evidence-based practice in decreasing the effects of CHF. There is evidence that links exercise, diet, and education as key factors that decreases mortality and morbidity in patients with CHF. All healthcare settings can utilize and implement evidence-based practice when caring for patients with CHF. Nurses should promote education about CHF and the benefits of regular exercise and diet (Smart, 2010).
Nursing research is providing evidence used to support nursing practices, generate new knowledge, and promote evidenced-based nursing practice, ensure credibility of nursing profession, provide accountability for nursing practice and document effectiveness of nursing care. Nursing research also focuses on the understanding and relieving of the symptoms

Nightingale Paper Sarah Soares DeCastro University of Massachusetts Dartmouth NUR 261-05: Concepts of Scholarship In Nursing Professor Chen 21 February 2023 Evidence-Based Practice In Nursing Evidence-based practice in nursing is defined as a "Problem-solving approach to the delivery of health care that integrates the best evidence from well-designed studies with patients’ preferences and values and the clinician’s expertise, which includes internal evidence gathered from patient data" (Fain, 2021, p. 21). It is a practice that stems from the idea that medical professionals should base their decisions about how to treat patients less on tradition or experience and more on the results of scientific evidence. Evidence-based
The limited research that is available it often antiquated and is no longer relevant in current practice. As such, it is part of the nurse 's role to advocate for further research, conduct nursing-specific research,
