The BET Awards were broadcasted in this past week. This award show recognizes African Americans in the entertainment industry. The show usually consists of slips from shows and movies, trailers for upcoming events, and musical performances. One of those musical performances for the 2017 show was the talented Eminem, a white rapper from Detroit. His performance struck America by surprise, and received tremendous feedback from the Internet and his fans. Eminem’s performance focused primarily on bashing Donald Trump. Eminem calls out all of the current issues happening in America that many people are not paying attention to. He calls out a “A kamikaze that will probably cause a nuclear holocaust”, referring to Trump’s comments about North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un. Eminem acknowledges the rising tensions of America and Her citizens. He mentions Trump’s lack of support for the catastrophic hurricanes in Puerto Rico and the largest shooting in American history, which occurred in Las Vegas. Eminem speaks …show more content…

Thus, many of his supporters are republican. Eminem has done something that no rapper has done before; he tells his fans that if they are a Trump supporter, he will not stand with them. Eminem makes his fans choose between him and our President by saying “I’m drawing in the sand a line: you’re either for or against,” he says. “And if you can’t decide who you like more and you’re split/On who you should stand beside, I’ll do it for you with this,”. He then shows his middle finger, and dismisses his fans who are Trump supporters. This is huge for a rapper with such success. He is putting his money and his success on the line by refusing to affiliate with any supporter of the President. Eminem is using his fan base to directly speak to Trump supporters, and it worked.
