The lesson that Margot got is to not continue doing things that will make other people annoyed or angry because they will do the same back. All Summer in a Day and Maus are both stories where the main characters were discriminated against. Maus was a holocaust survivor that lost everything and went through traumas. Margot moved from Earth to Venus, in Venus the sun only shines for two hours whereas Earth was daily. The children in her school picked on her, calling her a liar and locking her in the closet.
