Betrayal, whether intentional, often has drastic impacts that drive the plot of a story. Romeo and Juliet is a prime example of how betrayal can often fuel the plot of a story. Betrayals can be big or small, intentional or unintentional, but they all have drastic consequences, both good and bad. An example of a major betrayal in Romeo and Juliet is how they disobeyed their families when running away for each other. Juliet betrayed her entire family by running away to marry Romeo instead of Paris like they wanted. Romeo ran away from his family to marry Juliet as well. Both actions are short-term causes of how they both died in the end. A betrayal, however, doesn’t always have to be as dramatic and prominent as that. There were also small,
