Integrated Paper The learning experience that I designed involves students designing a rover that would go to Mars to complete some research experiences. Their rover will have to carry basic tools to complete research. There will be a list of tools they can choose from and justify why they would bring them. I will explain the learning goals and activities of each discipline. The science goals and objectives include being able to justify why their model rover would move, identifying what items they would take to Mars and why they chose them and using their knowledge of Mars and Earth along with other planets to determine what to take to Mars. The activities the students will partake in that relate to science

The students will be able to use technology to research different tools and their purpose to use components from their design. The students will also be able to describe the engineering design process. The students will design a rover that would move and explain why it would move. Students will test their designs to meet certain criteria and constraints, and see how well they were able to meet the constraints and what they could do better to improve their designs. They will research tools and describe why they should go to Mars on their rovers. They will describe the engineering design process on paper. A reading says that, “regarding types of problems, engineering aims to address real world concerns and needs – problems that are situated, that may well be moving targets, and that likely demand new sorts of thinking,” (Chesney, 2023). For these students, they likely have never thought of designing a rover to go to Mars. They will be exploring new information through this real-world need. To teach this experience, I will introduce it with students going through a review of the elements of Mars and Earth. We would have a discussion about these elements. Then we will go through a discussion about past Mars trip and research that has been done on Mars before. I will go through tools and rovers that have been sent to Mars. Then we will go through all the parts of a rover and the dynamics that are a part of a rover moving. The students will have a criteria they have to meet with their
