250200 - Course Journal Evaluation Unit 1: Introduction to Composition, Entries 1-6 June 30, 2017, ENTRY 1: Me, a Writer, Attitude: My position about writing is that I dislike the exercise, I know this course will help me appreciate the writing. The main problem I have is putting my ideas in writing. I am sure this course will help me to be able to state my ideas, then improving my writing skills, it is important to me to write my ideas clearly. The support of my family encourages me to continue to practice writing.
I am now able to see the areas in which I lack in but I also recognize my strengths as well. To become a precise writer, you have to take the initiatives that will help you do so. These initiatives consist of working on different academic genres, planning and organizing material, identifying purpose and audience and for revising intentionally. It is also includes reading different types of texts and learning how to understand a writer’s argument and respond to the ideas of others.
All throughout my high school years I had a lot of trouble writing essays. I would constantly ask my teachers for help but I personally believe that I didn’t receive the adequate help to become a better writer. At the end of my senior year is when I encountered one of the most challenging writing assignments.

Have you ever wanted to receive a failing grade in your English class, but you are too good of a writer to do so? There is a simple answer to all your worries, that is: just become a bad writer! Unlike becoming a good writer, which is an uphill battle, you can become a become a bad writer quite easily if you just give up on trying. It is always easier to quit and slide down from being good because being good actually requires effort.
Writing has always been a way to communicate our ideas with others. Through history, writing has had a major role; it has transcended a lot of thoughts and knowledge that have become timeless, having a profound effect and being one of the most influential ways we can all communicate and express our thoughts. Writing is one of the most important inventions in human history and despite it having the ability to give us a way to express ourselves, our thoughts may not always be easy to convey. I might know exactly what I want to express and share, but when it comes to writing it down on paper, I always seem to struggle one way or another and the struggle only seems to escalate when having to adapt to the demands of a higher level writing. The adaptation of a certain set of rules that are presented may have the effect of making me feel that something as simple as articulating a point of view that is purely mine, suddenly has become significantly harder than it should be, and my confidence has suddenly been interrupted by a stress-filled battle between the
Writing literature for me has regularly been arduous. When I write a paper or a simple summary my mind usually goes blank and I have difficult expressing myself on paper. I usually avoid having to write essays until I can’t possibly ignore them any longer, because I have no confident in my writing skills. I can’t spontaneously write about anything or anyone compared to other individuals. For every page, I compose I possible stare at a computer screen blankly with no idea what to write for an hour
I have noticed that certain papers are not as fluid and flowy as others. There are times when I just cannot push through to finish even the minimum amount of page length, while the one prior, I was near to exceeding the maximum. Reflecting back, I was able to see that the papers that were hard for me to write, were genres that I do not prefer to read. As I see growth in my writing, I noticed that I really enjoyed or excelled in writing narratives or interesting stories that happened to myself, or others.
I could not pass the written examination even though I worked hard night and day on my writing for fifteen years. I spent a lot of money to buy and to read the guides to writing, and also purchased dozens of magazines. I attended a preparation class, but I kept failing the exams. In addition, one of the major factors contributing to my failure was a troubling shortage of writing skills. Even thinking about the written examination, gave me a sense of frustration and worry.
Goal 1 What: to explore a variety of approaches and activities for developing and practicing writing skills with my learners. Help learners understand the differences between written and spoken language, genres and their functions, style and register, and other key aspects of writing they need to successfully pass the certification. Why: I often teach certification courses and I feel that my students are under-prepare for it. My students usually have problems with writing most of them would say that they hate writing. But, it is less about “hate” and more about a lack of preparation in the subject area.
After the first peer review for paper one, I attempted many different styles of writing to see if any of them will improve my paper; then I learned from class that is was not how I wrote the essay, but who I address it to that make the writing boring. After knowing this knowledge, I at once began fixing my paper, and that is how my article is at now. This skill works nicely outside of class particularly for extracurricular activities, for
Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
Towards becoming a writer -------------------------------- I promised myself that I will learn a new skill this year. I resolve to learn how to write with purpose.
My Writing Experience In previous courses, my writing skills have been mediocre or just enough to pass the class. Throughout the duration of this course, I have written a variety of papers using different techniques and skills. Previously I would write assuming that the only audience would be my instructor. This course has helped me realize that there are many steps and skills involved with writing a well-organized and easy to comprehend essay.
Actually, if I’m being honest, my family sucks at writing. I was never placed in any special writing classes, but only the standard classes for school. I joined Intermediate composition to excel in my writing for my future. From this class, I’ve broadened my vocabulary and found new ways to check my pieces that I have wrote. I could always use more work with grammar because I have always struggled with that concept.
