“Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet, and hopefully, we shall overcome.” Rosa Parks stated this and despite the fact that racism was clear as daylight back then. This quote still holds to be true; racism still exists in our society. Many people at some point have asked themselves, how do we stop racism? Racism is not something that can be easily stopped and that is the reason it still exists today. Racism comes in many forms and in order to stop racism one must first understand what racism is and how it came to be. Just like in the video by Chescaleigh, Just stop talking about race. I think that one must not be afraid to speak of racism and discrimination. I agree, this is a sensitive topic and people may become passionate about their opinions and hurtful things might be said, but this is the only way that one can raise awareness of these injustices. I myself have experience discrimination as a child and as an adult. As a child, I did not notice it as much, but as I got older I become more aware of it. By the time I was 11 years old; I began to notice it more. During that time I competed for a swim club in Detroit. All of my competitions were in state and out of state. Some swimmers and parents would automatically consider me dangerous by knowing; I came from Detroit and my ethnic background did me no justice. I soon learned that I had to change my mannerism around white people, in order for them to feel safe and not threaten by my presence. Now, with our current president, I have to be extra cautious of what I do and say. President Trump has awaken that hatred that many Americans kept
