He was a great friend of Caesar but he wanted to join in with the conspirators to free Rome from Caesar's later bad decisions that could be made. Brutus believes that Caesar would be good for Rome. He feels that Caesar is a young man who dont even have any intentions on being a leader to Rome, he only wanted to have a label to himself and do good for himself and only himself.
There is no evidence that Caesar wanted to be a tyrant and hurt the common people of Rome. Brutus’ lack of evidence helped convince my fellow Romans and I that Brutus is dishonorable and crooked. Brutus then asks us if we would rather have Caesar living “and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all freemen” (III.II.24-26). Again, Brutus provided no evidence to support his belief that we would be turned into slaves. With all of the evidence we have, Caesar wanted to make Rome a better place for all people.

If then that friend demand why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer: not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more
In the play, one of Brutus’ negative characteristics is being too trusting. He first decides not to kill Antony thinking he will understand the reasoning behind Caesar's’ death, and is later augmented when he lets Antony speak at Caesar's’ funeral. “You shall not in your funeral speech blame us, But speak all good you can devise of Caesar” (III.i.245-246). Brutus trusts that Antony will not talk poorly about him, or the rest of the conspirators. Brutus believes Antony will talk only the good of Caesar, but in the end Antony turns the plebeians against them.
“Our purpose necessary and not envious, which so appearing to the common eyes, we shall be called purgers, not murderers.” Brutus wants his actions to seem practical and vengeful. If he and his co-conspirators appear calm to the people, they will view them as purgers instead of murderers. By this text, I can conclude that Brutus is not fond of Caesar at all. “But alas, Caesar must bleed for it.
In Brutus’s soliloquy, he explains that he does not want to kill Caesar just to kill him. This noble Roman wants what is best for his people. He is conflicted with himself due to the fact that Caesar is one of his best friends. Brutus would never kill or go against Caesar for no good reason. In the speech that is given, Brutus says that he is afraid that by making Caesar king, he will only become more dangerous(Act II,Scene i,Line 28-31).
With power sometimes though comes with great regret. You may lose someone close or make new enemies along the way. Brutus wants power so badly that he’d do anything for it. Although Caesar is Brutus’ friend he does not support his leadership. Brutus believes himself to be the better choice of the two to rule over Rome.
Caesar saw only the good in Brutus. Even though they may have had the same characteristics, Caesar loved them in Brutus but hated them in himself. According to dictionary.com trust is, "reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, ect., of a person or thing; confidence." However, it is not that simple to define. It is something that all people want and is maybe the most vital. Trust is one most important thing in any relationship. Trust is not easy given to others.
By its dictionary definition, trust is the reliance on the integrity of a person or thing. Trust is a secure feeling, to be able to rely on someone and know without any doubt that they will keep information in confidence. It takes honest dedication to another person to gain trust especially in a world of liars and cheats. Because trust is a double-edged sword, there is security but it is delicate.. Trust is like a thick glass vase, if it is knocked off the vanity it will break but, the glass is thick enough that it can slowly be glued back together but it will never look the same or feel the same as you move it somewhere safer.
In the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, the two alliances, one consisting of Antony, Octavius, and Lepidus, and the other consisting of Brutus and Cassius, are different in that the triumvirate lacks trust. In the first alliance, there is a tone of mistrust throughout the scene. The director uses Antony’s posture as a visual to show the professionalism and tone of the scene. He is slumped in his chair and is clearly drunk. As Antony goes to pour Octavius another drink, Octavius covers the cup with his hand, refusing more wine.
