CANFAR application Describe how CANFAR impacts you and the McMaster community: * Your answer Being part of CANFAR provides me the chance to contribute to the McMaster community, by bring awareness of the importance of safe sex and funding for HIV research. We positively impact the McMaster community by providing free sexual barrier devices to reduce the probability of pregnancy or a sexually transmitted infection (STIs). CANFAR also more or less gives me a sense of belongingness within the group and enriched my learning experience outside of class. I met a lot of amazing people through the sub-council as we share the same interests and values, I really appreciate that we each made an effort to coordinate and work toward a common goal. For example, I am always to one to make reservations in restaurants or hotels when I go out with a group of friends. I also understand it is not easy to keep a good relationship with the sponsorships at times, I need to careful when I do the negotiation with them and making contracts with them, so that we will get the benefits as being sponsored, also the sponsors are gaining reputation and popularity as well. I also learnt the importance of planning ahead of time with my experience in the other club. Looking for local sponsorships can be very competitive since there are so many clubs on campus and they all look for new sponsorship every year around the same time, so it will be more efficient to do this ahead of time, usually around the summer time, ideally before July to get the sponsorships for the upcoming school year avoid competing with other clubs for sponsorships.
