My professional history includes positions such as nursing in my country as well as a staff in Hollydale Lodge, a low care nursing house in Melbourne. As a nurse in my country, I can observe the dangerous signals on the patients. When I work in Hollydale Lodge, I understand the procedure of living in a nursing home. Some duties are similar to accomplish as in a high care nursing home. In addition, after the placement of aged care, I can assist the residents successfully.
The scope of practice of a family nurse practitioner enables them the ability to serve as a primary care provider for families. This includes providing care for each member of the family individually and for the entire family collectively as a whole. Family nurse practitioners typically work in either a family practice or community health setting, where they are often responsible for the care of the entire family. Within each setting, there are numerous cultural variations that a family nurse practitioner might encounter. It is important that the family nurse practitioner is able to meet the families’ and are culturally competent when doing so.

How will Carters Green Medical Centre meet the needs of my client group (children) with their health and growing up as well as socialising skills? I will briefly explain the role of informal carers supporting my chosen client Evaluate the impact this could have on that child’s life. So how would the role of the extended family support my client group (children). I will use a secondary research of data from textbooks to research about informal carers.
This model was chosen for its strengths in providing the nursing practitioner with a wide range of areas to engage families with. This is because the model acts as a template for both clinical and generalist practice and it allows nurses to expand their assessment questions within the different categories provided as they increase their skills in the practice of family care. It also allows the practitioner to choose which category is the most relevant to the particular client family resulting in advanced practice. Advanced practice is marked by the ability of the user to apply the model confidently as well as competently. However, on the downside, the model can become overwhelming when the nursing practitioner is beginning to use the model as they have to keep
Assessment is also taken care of, as the family knows their strengths and limitations. They need intervention as they still need help resolving their concerns and problems, they need initiate actions to achieve their goals. The family has needed to change their lives around some to accommodate for the new family member that will be living with them, which is a primary need. They need to find a way to handle the new family member and the needs of this new member, as their needs are not needs that the family has had to deal with. The family has already changed how their live is as they have hired extra help; Teresa has changed her schedule around to accommodate for her mother’s needs and doctor appointments.
What we use to consider as a normal family or nuclear family is no longer the norm. Society has created multiple structures of families to accommodate different lifestyles and needs. A family can be a considered as a type of social institution and the structural changes that happen within families can be explained by sociological theories. There are three major theories that can be applied to the changes in families; Functionalist by Durkheim, Conflict by Marx, and Symbolic Interactionist by Mead.
(2015) as it states that when the nurse looks at the family as a whole then the nurse will be able to assess the needs of the entire family, this in turn this will enable the nurse to implement a treatment plan that will not only impact the individual, but the entire family (p.4) empowering the nurse to treat with a holistic approach therefore, meeting the moral and ethical duty which is to include the family in the healthcare needs of the individual (Kaakinen et al., 2015, p.4). 3. Have you had an experience as a family member in which you were on the receiving end of family nursing care (care from a nurse or even another healthcare provider whose care went beyond just the primary individual to include the wellbeing of family members) for a family concern of some kind? This experience does not have to be illness related.
Assessing the needs of all the people in the family will prompt a strategy approach which all the family has to work on by functioning together as a family in order to assist Mrs. Jones in her care which will be the family goal. The family goal will be how to assist the Susie aged mother and how the family will not be affected especially Susie herself. Susie family routine has to be assessed and incorporate the needs of the aged mother in the family routine. Everyone in the family has a need and needs must be met in avoid strive and tension. The children’s happiness should be evaluated to determine how healthy they are in terms of physical, mental, and emotional to achieve the family goal and to avoid family
The Family Systems Theory Family systems theory is a framework for understanding families and their strengths and dysfunctions. The strengths identified among family relations can be used to help solve existing problems. The same applies with problems identified. The family system theory is based on Bowen’s theory which argues that people cannot leave independent of each other’s network of relationships. People within a family are connected emotionally, which affects their overall well being and social relations and behaviour.
The perspective of the multidisciplinary group concerning the pregnancy of Paula was to guarantee that the security of the child is first guaranteed through the radical provision of intervention to Paula so she can be in a situation to deal with the baby (Plummer et al., 2014). Building someone strength in life is one of the principal approaches to empowering them after the social worker has given them the best ways to do this. Legitimate empowerment to Paula is one of the primary point of view that the social worker created keeping in mind the end goal to guarantee there is accomplishment during the time spent ensuring that the Paula takes excellent care of herself and the child. Likewise, the social team implemented the point of view of hospitalizing Paula in so they screen her often together with her infant amid the intervention procedure (Plummer, Makris and Brocksen, 2014). I think as the social worker I would use the single system design model in giving the evaluation of Paula.
The period between 1685 and 1815 is known as the Age of Enlightenment. This period brought new ideas and beliefs to Europe. The new ideas would help people at the time question what was going on in Europe for over one hundred years. The ideas that came from the enlightenment would still be changing people’s minds well into the 21st century. These ideas and beliefs would cause a revolution in France, causing the French Revolution (1789 to 1799).
Family theories have been used throughout the history of nursing to help guide patient care and provide the best patient outcomes. Certain theories may be more applicable to the specific patient encounter; however, each theory has benefits and drawbacks to their use. The purpose of this paper is to examine two selected theories, comparing their strengths and weaknesses. I will also discuss a theoretical family in relation to one theory, and how that theory can be best integrated into the care provided by an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN). Description of Theories
From this scenario, I have learned about systems theory as well as other psychological theories such attachment theory. Firstly, based on my research on “Family Systems Theory “(Murray B.) family systems theory suggest that an individual, in this case, Sinead, cannot be understood as an individual alone but instead as part of a family as a family is an emotional unit. Families in every aspect are systems of interdependent and interrelated individuals that cannot be understood if a single person is isolated and examined. Each member in the family, has a specific role to play and a set of rules in which they must follow. Maintaining a certain system in the family may lead to balance in the family but also to huge dysfunction.
A nurse must be able to perform activities like moving a patient, lifting heavy equipment, being on their feet for much of their shift, etc. The nursing profession can be very taxing on a person’s body and society as a whole is seeing the effects of this. Older nurses who have been in the field for a long time are no longer able to perform these tasks and it is causing them to change their area of expertise, or even leave their profession entirely. This has negatively impacted effective health care delivery and proper patient-centered care because these nurses are not able to effectively help their patients. Research shows that there are a large amount of nurses that are near or at the retirement age.
This essay discusses how the family is viewed by two different sociological perspectives- functionalism and conflict theory. Firstly, ‘family’ is defined. Secondly, the main ideas of functionalism will be discussed followed by how this theory perceives the family. The main ideas of Conflict Theory will then be examined and how conflict theorists perceive the family.
