Sometimes, bringing legal devices into the situation is the only thing that you can do to stop it, and that's okay. It's not something that you should be ashamed of.

If you live with your children and they are experiencing violence as well, then you should file for a domestic violence injunction immediately. You don't want anything bad to happen to your children, and if they are in harm's way, then it's time to make a change.
