Chapter Eight Summary In chapter eight of Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie and his father enter their 5th camp they have been to called Buchenwald. Elie's father expressed great weakness, he didn't want to carry on anymore. Elie said ; “He had become childlike: weak, frightened, vulnerable” (Wiesel, 105). Suddenly the sirens sounded and Elie followed the running crowd, not realizing he left his father alone until the next morning.
Teachers need to build relationships with the children so that children understand boundaries with their class teacher. Piaget (1936, cited Mcleod 2015) also suggests that there are two types of child to adult relationships. The first type of relationships applies to a teacher and a child’s relationship. He believes that constraint is a type of relationship in which the child is expected to respect the adult. The adult (being the teacher) then uses authority to socialise with the child and to instruct the child on what to do.
Children are taught to developed responsibility and self-regulation. Each member must feel valued by others and feel accountable for their learning and well-being. There are clear reasonable expectations and the physical and psychological environment is positive and safe. The teacher listens and responds to the children after acknowledging their feelings. Then they help the children understand and guide them to solving a problem.
The principles of relationship building with Children, Young people and Adults need to be nurtured in order to maintain the relationship that has already formed. All parties need to feel secure and comfortable around one another in order to build further trust and open up and talk effectively about any subjects and issues. Teaching assistants need to act as good role models to the children, young people and adults. Teaching assistants need to be polite, considerate, empathic and good at identifying and sorting out problems as they are also regarded as a representative of the school. The children and young people need to be encouraged and praised with their academic life and showed by staff that they are accepted for what they are and receive
First and foremost to understand others like your peers, teachers and any other adults in authority you need to have a good positive relationship with them and so it is vital that certain principles are followed to maintain a strong and constructive relationship. The teaching assistant has to ensure, even if the classroom is in full swing, she is giving everyone equal attention and that no one is getting left out. I think that as being a teaching assistant it is important that I make every student comfortable and happy whilst their time in the school setting so having a positive interaction is important, meaning that giving the appropriate attention to the student so that the student can meet their needs. Propriety and behaviour- While working with pupils it is essential for staff member to behave in an appropriate and professional manner at all times we it is their responsibility to set a good example for the pupil of the school. Teachers and their assistants are often seen as role models therefore it is an important part of the job to set a respectful and friendly example to which their pupils will intern mirror. Working within a school setting, all staff member have a duty of care to their pupils, this means that pupils need to be protected from any harm or danger and regular risk assessments have to take place to ensure the school is a safe environment for the pupils . Also before employing any new staff members the school has to organise  DBS checks to  be done before they can begin to work in the school. Whistle blowing-
School governors - are there set the strategic direction for the school. Support the work of the head teacher and staff, they are responsible for making sure the school provides a good quality of education for all pupils. Overseeing the financial spending of the school making sure it's well spent. Decisions about the school have to be run by the school governors ensuring it is in the best interests for the school , pupils and staff. Senior management team - are there to make sure the school is doing the best it can for its pupils .
The training that a teaching assistant should have when they are working in a school should be to use their teaching assistant training knowledge in the classroom to help the pupils and the teacher. This includes helping and encouraging pupils in the classroom and giving special support to those pupils that find a certain topic harder than the rest of the class. They should also help the teacher with preparing the classroom for the students by getting the right equipment out and making sure that there are no dangerous objects that could harm the pupils. After the lesson the teaching assistant should tidy away the classroom and make sure it is clean and tidy and ready for the next lesson or the next day. The teaching assistant should also do
As a teacher in Social Care I’ll give equal opportunities of training to my students and be ready to handle any offensive behaviour from any of my students. Like stressed out students that get frustrated during training; I’ll keep myself calm and handle them patiently. If students create diversity on bases of cultural and language differences among them I’ll tackle them carefully and teach them values of equality and try to teach them team spirit. Evaluate my own role and responsibilities as a trainer. I have to plan adequate resources, teaching approaches and activities to meet the needs of my learners.
As a teaching assistant you can give children and young people the tools to building relationships by modelling appropriate behaviour. To encourage trust and understanding, it is necessary to ensure that children understand instructions. Whether for an activity or a fire drill, any miscommunication of instructions can lead to misunderstanding and feelings of unease. When giving instructions it is important to make them simple and concise so that children can remember them.

It is my responsibility to be organized, willing to work well with others, takes initiative, and having a positive attitude. During my time in the field, I had a pleasure of working with 3rd graders. I learned to be a long life learner. Everyday, I was challenged my students to learn something new. It was important to me to make a difference.

A time in my life that I have had to come together with other people to solve differences would be in cheerleading. There were thirteen girls, all with very different personalities and opinions. Like most cases, our personalities clashed at times, resulting in conflict. Most of the time we were able to resolve our conflicts, but when it came down to our homecoming routine, there was a lot of tension between us all. It is difficult to balance school and cheer at the same time, especially around the time of homecoming.
