The sense of a community refers to the feeling of belonging that the members have, a

feeling that and the members matter to each other and also to the group. A sense of community

also included a shared faith that the needs of the group’s members would be met by their

commitment to becoming harmonized. There are ten conditions that contribute to a sense of

community. These include; membership, boundaries, personal investment, emotional safety, a

common system, identification and belonging, shared emotional connection, influence,

integration plus fulfillment (Kent, 2011).

The

boundaries that define how individuals become members and keep others out also represent a

real community (Kent, 2011). Another experience of the actual community is emotional security

wherein the business community builds boundaries that include only the right people, and so

creating trust and a sentiment of safety for the members. Additionally, a sense of identification

helps the bank staff to feel that they fit in, and the banking community is their community (Kent,

Private investments whereby members contribute to the community, for example, they

sacrifice to work late, enhances their sense of the community (Kent, 2011). Moreover, sharing a

symbol, such as a sports team also creates a sense of an actual community (Kent, 2011).

Importantly, is the sense of mattering or influence on the members (Kent, 2011). A real

community has an environment wherein members feel they have a say in what takes
