The Renaissance, Religious Reformations, religious wars, and oversea expansions lead to changing attitudes in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries. The Protestant Reformation raised the status of women, but at the same time reformers like Martin Luther believed women should be domestic figures and stay out of the public area. As a result of the strong religious feelings from the Reformations, people became insecure with certain women, like widows and midwives, and developed the idea that they were witches and conferring with the devil. This insecurity and confusion launched the Great European witch-hunt. A witch-hunt is the searching for witches, which often resulted in the trial and persecution of women allegedly practicing witchcraft.

The Church Split – 1054 A.D. The Split between the East and West was very crucial to Western Civilization. This is when the Christian Church split into two parts. The Christian faith has a diverse spectrum of variances, but
It is a common fact in today’s society that many persons believe that religion has brought about more division rather than unity, more harm rather than good. The Christian Church is primarily known for its numerous separations. Christianity is partitioned into several different denominations, of which the Methodist Church and the Baptist Church form a part of. Both of these denominations do contain similarities as well as differences that set them apart. Some of these similarities include they both believe in the Triune God, meaning three persons in one; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Denominations in America date back to when “many people immigrated to the colonies in the early years… [and] they brought with them their churches and denominations” (Rhodes 14). Once in the Americas, “these various churches took on an American flavor and adapted to fit in with American society” and in many of these cases “churches split off from a parent denomination because of differences in belief” (Rhodes 14). Churches continued to branch off into new denominations and each have “some distinct beliefs and histories” (Rhodes 18). For religions such as Protestantism “the work of several influential christian leaders gave rise to new denominations” (Rhodes 18).
By having these common characteristics the churches become consolidated and banded together as a safe place for people who share the same religious vales. The churches change all around the world because as the religion changes so does the beliefs which are expressed

This is the main reason I want to become a doctor. I have always wanted to help people in any way I could and being in healthcare is certainly a great way to do so. By having a health career, I could have the rare chance to save lives, which is something I have always desired to do.
Tension, dispute, and war has been the interlocking relationship between the Catholics and Protestants for centuries. Both looked to the Bible as sacred scripture, emphasized on studying the word of God, and the importance of reading scripture, however, the demeanor in how the bible should be used was very skewed from one another. Catholics stressed that the bible is too complicated for one to read on their own, one needed interpretation. Whereas, Protestants encouraged to take the book home and to read and study it with their family. Physically the Bible was less central to the homes of Catholics, whereas Protestants displayed the best and most striking Bible they could find.
During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries the religious landscape was majorly affected by the schism of Christianity. Protestantism had now taken a foot hold in Germany and Eastern Europe. Some of the cities that became predominantly Lutheran were Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Helsinki. Some of the cities that became predominantly Calvinist were Trent, Amsterdam, and Edinburgh. To add on to the Protestant foot hold was the Church of England, which was predominant in England.
I believe that denominations cause unnecessary division among Christians since each sect holds a different meaning for the word
A sect is a kind of religious group that is differentiate itself from a larger group by following a different path and principles. In the Christianity-church concept, sects are defined newly established groups that has a structure includes protest elements of its main religion. The sect is a subjective topic that changes based on time, location and religion. For example, Catholics may refer to the Protestants as sect, on the other hand the Orthodox church is a sect in the point of view of Protestants. So, it may claimed that one person’s religion is a sect for another person.
