What types of forensic tools were utilized during the cold case investigation? Identify three tools. Explain the purpose of the tool and describe how it was utilized in this cold case investigation.
The first step in gaining access to an old crime scene would be to get a warrant to search the area or location of where you think the bodies may be located, or where the crime scene was. In this investigation they extracted DNA from the skeletons or bodies of those dead to match with family members, so they could help return the bodies back to the family. The apartments had no hot water, no electricity, and they depended on illuminating gas to provide energy to stoves and lights. This gas was made up of toxic and explosive Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen. When you walk into the apartment the floors were splintered and the walls were peeling. It appeared as if the apartment had a gas leak because there was a fitting broken on the wall, so the police had the windows opened. There was a body of woman who was stiff, pale and cold laying on the bed. Carbon Monoxide turns the blood cells cherry red. So strong that it flushes the skin of the body or corpse a cherry pink color. In suffocation or strangulation there are higher levels of Carbon Dioxide in the blood, and the police also noticed bruise marks that were left by her husband when he held her down and strangled her to death. The husband broke the fitting to make it look as if it was a gas leak, but the chemistry proved it was murder, and that is what led to him getting
