Many schools are cutting athletic, art, and music programs to save money; however, this has a negative impact on students. Schools needs those programs to keep students in school and build character. Furthermore, budget cuts should not be made without a thorough evaluation process. Make note of all relevant programs, and prioritize them. Those that are more important should be funded first, and the programs that are less important should be funded only after key programs have been taken care

Taking arts and humanities courses is very important especially if its not part of a students major. Students in America need to take these courses seriously since they help develop their critical thinking and decision making skills. Also these courses help students get a better understanding on how people in different cultures live and helps teach students empathy. Without art and humanities courses citizens would become work horses with under developed critical thinking and decision making skills. Students should always evaluate the importance of each class they have to take, Despite the inessential of these courses depending on your major you never know when these skills you develop from these courses will become
To make a significant change in the world, countless hours of preparation, of work, and proactive cooperation with others are crucial for success. I partake in few extra-curricular activities, but I have dedicated years of my life to them all. On a regular week, I have to balance French club and National French Honor Society secretary duties, community service for National Honor Society, and additional choir practice for at least two hours after school each week (while sometimes performing community service with the choir as well). I want to become an engineer; so I take AP classes that are useful and interest me because I will need to know advanced math and science concepts in college. All of these extra-curricular activities and academics will become even more relevant when it is time for me to advance my future goals of pursuing a higher education and making significant efforts to aid the world by designing helpful technology with medical applications.

In November of 2008, the United States elected the first African American president, Barack Obama. Although racism is a thing of the past, people today still have different views on African Americans. That being said, when Obama was elected, it caused uproar in some communities, NC state being one of them. As we all know, everyone has their right to freedom of speech says the first amendment; therefore, people began to say inappropriate things in regards to the situation. At NC State University, students wrote racist comments referring to Obama on a walkway in the middle of campus called the “free expression tunnel”, made for students to express ideas using graffiti.
I chose to watch “Easy A”, because I am actually a huge fan of Emma Stone and I have seen bits and pieces of this movie when it first came out but never the whole thing so I thought this would be a perfect excuse to finish watching it and not be judged for watching a “chick flick”. This movie is about a quirky, nerdy and rather unnoticed school student named Olive, played by Emma Stone, who was telling her best friend about a weekend she had, which was rather boring, but she made up a little white lie about losing her virginity. Her friend jumped to conclusions and things quickly spiraled out of control.
In many public schools, music education programs are being terminated, due to budget cuts and governmental program reforms; while some believe that the arts are secondary to courses such as math and science, it has been proven that musical education helps students to improve skills such as project management, team building, effective time management, leadership, cooperation and collaboration. Due to the fact that the benefits reaped from music education overwhelm any negatives associated with it, music education programs should be kept in public schools. Music education has been quite prevalent in the United States for quite some time. Public education first began in the United States in the 1800s and Philadelphia and Boston were among the
These are large pieces of information that show that involvement in the arts can help with far more than just reading music or singing. Another very reliable source, the Department of Education, has also noticed this. “Studies conducted by the DOE [Department of Education] have found a positive correlation between arts involvement and success in other subjects such as mathematics, science, and literature” (Flynn). Clearly, arts have an impact on students, their core education, and even the student’s
There have been a lot of experiences, and events in my life that have impacted me for my future in a positive way. One such experience is my current job as a Pastor at my church. In the fall of 2014, I was blessed with the opportunity of taking the position of being the Children’s Pastor at my home church, Pueblo Christian Center. I prayed about it for a couple of weeks before taking the position, and I really felt like the Lord was telling me to take it. It has been instrumental in helping me develop my passion, and goals.
Considering my past experiences, my opinion is that fine arts should not be required. They should remain purely as electives, available to students that are personally interested in them. I would never wish the stress and hopelessness I felt in fine art programs or classes upon even my worst enemies”. This shows that forcing students to partake in music classes can make them feel like a chore rather than a fun activity, which is really the opposite of what music classes should strive for. Like it or not, the best way to achieve the goal of educating and getting students interested in music is having it as an elective, not a mandatory class that can potentially turn the students off the subject
The art programs, specifically music, teach creativity and have the benefit of helping with math and science skills. Visual art programs have fewer restrictions on physical attributes, if you want to paint you can do so just as well if you're in a wheelchair, or standing on both legs. Both sports and the visual arts have their place, and they are both very important to a teenager’s growing mind. The visual arts deserve as much recognition as sports. Being involved with both sports and the visual arts has many benefits in anyone’s
Some studies showed that people who listened to classical music performed worse in memory tests than those who didn’t” (See). We do know that some children and adults seem to be calmer and more engaged when music is incorporated into learning. People feel that this does impact the individual. Some people do not believe that arts in education are beneficial, but others feel that they are very monumental is
