Like Holden’s red hunting hat, an item that serves a similar purpose to me is my pink jacket. In a literal sense, the hunting hat and my jacket are both alike in the sense that they both have a fuzzy inner lining to keep the user warm. Holden recalls that the events that occurred throughout the duration of the novel, “…happened to me around last Christmas” (3). Therefore, the weather in New York would be chilly enough for a fuzzy hat to be appropriate to wear when going outside. By coincidence, because of the fact that it is also around Christmas time, the temperature tends to plummet, and thus, my fuzzy jacket is suitable for me to handle being outside in the cold environment.
Teachers have reported academic improvements, better attendance, and students that are less moody and less likely to fall asleep in class, and I know you care for each student in the district and want the best for each individual. A simple change in the school schedule can decrease these risks and result in successful
The readworks article “ time to think” explains the debate, students should be in school longer. On the other had the side that believes that school days should stay the same saids that longer days will not be beneficial to the students. In the article It states that there are advantages and disadvantages of changing schools hours. In both sides they do have some similarities.
As well as time, students should have more class options such as a recess, or electives that the high school has. Although there is a gym period every day, some students have health for an entire and don't get to release all their built up energy from sitting in a classroom all day. If there were to be a recess added to the schedule, students would be able to run around and burn all their built up energy, giving them a better focus on the lesson being teached in class. Plus, an added recess would give students a better social opportunity, eventually leading to making new friends. Additionally, if students were given an opportunity to have more classes, they would be able to explore who they are and what their
Kids would be able to take more elective classes. Having it separate days would take out a period for kids who take both Choir and Band. There would be a lot less scheduling issues and conflicts with high school schedules as well. Art comes into play in scheduling issues too. Many students have had to take it independently instead of taking the actual class.
Sarah Cardillo October 31, 2017 Class Period 3 Why School Start Times Should Be Later Teenagers and kids these days are loosing a lot of their sleep time due to early school start times. Teenagers aren’t getting the sleep they need to have their minds and bodies function correctly. Not getting enough sleep can lead to many health problems. In a bunch of surveys, some authors noted that teachers reported that they were able to give out more instruction on this schedule (Turner, et al 3). This is great because if the teachers are teaching more in the time that they are given, then that means that the students are actually paying attention which will help them learn more. Another example of this is when Donis-Keller and Silvernail explains, “Studies using surveys of teachers and students have found that other observed benefits include fewer class interruptions and distractions because of the lengthened day (and thus class periods) which leads to increasing the efficiency of instruction” (8). Whenever teachers have more efficient instruction, they teach the class more in a shorter amount of time, which just shows how beneficial the four day school week is. This is how teachers and students are using their time in school more effectively with the changed
In the article “Pro vs Cons of Extended School Days” they discuss how extended school days will give students more time focus on troubled areas. Not all students need extra help so instead of extending school days for everyone school should offer more tutoring classes in different subjects. That way kids can have access to subjects they really
The day that we don’t have school could be the day that we could make up work and turn in assignments online on classroom. A little homework for each class would help out a lot. Teachers want to teach students and have them know all the knowledge that they teach and maybe use it in the later day lives and longer days with longer periods would let those teachers take their time teaching their subjects. This also allows students to take their time in getting their toughest work done. The class periods would probably be over an hour long but longer school days is a must if you for sure have four day weeks.
School days are too long,The school would save money if the days were shortened cause the lights would go off and that means school would be saving money. The school electry bill would be less money if days were shortened stop
Many schools are debating whether or not they should cut the hour limit. With that said schools should be shorter. Schools should be shorter for many different reasons. To start with, f schools were to cut the hours of the school day it would save lots of money that goes towards the school. For example, in the article Shorter School Days it stated, “Just cutting off one day from school would save millions for school districts.
I gained this information at Debate.org which also says “Image how much stress it would be on all students and the poor teachers! What about them and how are we suppoed to pay for three hours, they already stay at school planning so will have no time left at all!” On a website called Education.seattlepi.com says that other people that extend the time of school isn’t going too give students more learning, it also says that “If the methods used currently aren’t working, spending more time using those same methods isn’t going to change
Although this could result in students being in school 30 minutes longer it gives them the opportunity to complete some tasks that would cause them stress later that
People commonly conceive of power as an influence from the political or economic authority that enforces subordinates to behave in certain ways. However, when Edward Said discusses Orientalism, he identifies this concept differently by focusing on the cultural and ideological aspect of power. If people continue to neglect such cultural power structure of Orientalism, and only focus on economic or political relations between the East and the West, they will fail to recognize the stereotypes that have been infused by this dominant viewpoint and distort the reality of the Orient. Therefore, this paper aims to illustrate on how the dominant Orientalist interpretation leads people to common misconception and will assist readers to have better understanding
Clearly, if it makes this much of a difference, why don’t all schools do it? That is a huge jump in math especially. This also shows that students become much better by increasing the amount of hours in a school day. Also, the same article on Reading Rockets also suggests that teachers get to answer students’ questions and many students enjoyed the longer school day. The teachers answering students’ questions help the students understand the material better.
