Teens nowadays don't really care about school, but just driving to it and looking cool. Between texting and driving, talking on phones and listening to loud music, many teen drivers make careless and dangerous mistakes while driving. That is why the driving age should be raised to 21. Just think about the news reports that you have heard, just since the new year. More car accidents occur because of teens and their carelessness. They are still “kids” and do not have the level of responsibility needed to drive a motor vehicle. As teens get older and begin to drive, they start to attend parties that may be serving alcohol. This adds another layer of impairment behind the wheel, if they decide to drink and drive, becoming even more irresponsible. Teens never fully understand everything that is going on in the world or what is wrong. There is still some time until they have fully matured, which starts at age 21. If they wait until then, there won’t be as many car accidents as if they drive as a teen. The ability to know right from wrong increases and clear judgement increases as individuals get older. There is not reason to keep the driving age as it is now. I actually don’t want to drive because of everyone on the road and how crazy everyone is, particularly new drivers.
