In the past there has been much trouble with young teens driving. Did you know that there are 40,000 deaths in the US each year. 1-7 teens text and drive and 73% of teens admit to doing it. The driving age should be increased to 18 because the deaths of teens each year have been increasing rapidly, at the age of 18 teens are more mature and responsible, and lots of teens text and drive.

The first reason why young drivers should wait longer to get their driver's license is even though it is against the law to drink and drive some teens still do it. For example “On teenage boys from Chicago went out for a late-night drive and had a terrible accident both of the boys were killed on site.” (John D’Amico). There are many more examples of 16 year olds being 16 year olds and with driving we can not have that. Driving can be a life or death situation and you have to be really careful and cautious. Another example is“Two of the boys--a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old--were killed. The driver of the car was just 16.” (John D’Amico). This shows that drivers under age of 18 are not responsible enough to have a driver's license. Parents should also be more cautious because if they know their kid could have the slightest chance of doing something stupid they should be able to do
