One important aspect of reading is teaching the students phonological awareness, phonics, and word recognition. Throughout the course this practices was mention a lot, they are so important for students because this is the beginning of the students learning how to reads, spells, and have the knowledge that words have meaning. Two practices that was mention in the course was the use of explicit and implicit code instruction. I will use these two practices in my classroom. When we talk about explicit instruction is a more method of scaffolding, which helps teach the students beginning reading. When a student is able to read fluently and understand the words that are being written comprehension then come in hand. There were several practices and strategies discuss throughout the semester. A strategies that I will implement in my classroom is repeated reading this kind of strategies as mention in the book enhance fluency by the students becoming fluent and self-confident in their reading. Since the students are given the opportunity to read several times they have the opportunity “to practice identifying unknown words while relying on their memory of the language flow to assist” (pg.239, Bos and Vaughn, 2012). Another practice that I will implement in my classroom is DR-TA evidence approach, in this approach the students need to evaluate the copy of the material given before reading the text, such as looking into the “tittle, subtitle, pictures, and other elements” (pg. 273, Bos and Vaughn, 2012) and bringing the students prior-knowledge, to be able to make a prediction about the reading. DR-TA evidence approach help the students to be active thinker, and I believe that when students are full participant in the activity they are more motivated to learn and more questions will come into mind about what they don’t
