Hopping onto the bus to Lake Orion High School was terrifying. A billion thoughts were going through my head should I get off the bus? Should I quit swim? God help me! The bus ride was about 30 minutes as I was told by my friend, Kavya Sharma, who gave me her bag of grapes to calm me down, told me. As I finished eating, I could hear the seniors in the back whipping and nay-naying. Soon, we arrived and it was time to face our fears. As I stepped down from the bus, “Thank you for the ride, good sir.” Even though we are counted as sixty, we walked in together as one. As our team captain stepped out of the locker room, the other team stopped and stared at her; like she was an alien from another planet. The Lake Orion High School pool was much finer than our pool; they even had a warm-down pool. However, its smell was the exact same ‘chlorine’ moreover the air felt muggy. Anyway before the meet started, we were told to do a warm-up which obviously is exhausting. The black group got to do the warm-up first because each team only gets four lanes. As we wait for our turn, we chitchatted among ourselves, which meant praying and motivating each other to win. Please let me get any place but last. I prayed quietly to myself. Walking toward the blocks, my brain shuts down and all I could hear were echoes of my friends and coach cheering for the swimmers. “Event 4 first heat step on the block!” Man on the speaker said.
