I firmly disagree with the Dickenson County School Board wanting to extend our school hours by one and half hours. I feel that the school board should make the decision that will be beneficial to everyone, including teachers, cooks, students, teacher aides, and janitors. I feel that the most beneficial decision is to keep the school hours the same because, school would dismiss at around 5:00 o’clock or school would start around 7:00 o’clock, as we can see with this, there is a conflict. The conflict is that pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade would have to wake up no later than 5:00 A.M, or they would not be getting home till around 6:30 in the afternoon. My second reason is because students would be stressed to the max. Lastly, is because some pupils do after school athletics. They would be getting home very late …show more content…
The school board must think of the pre-kindergarten students, they would be out like a light at school, in fact, everyone would be out like a light. However, they do get naps throughout the day, it still would not cover for the time being taken away. These are times that not even teachers and aides should be getting up. This would just simply mean getting up too early, or getting home extremely late. My second reason is because, seven hours of school a day puts a lot of stress on children and teenagers these days. I know if, seven hours of school a day puts stress on children, than eight hours and thirty minutes would depress the student down with stress. Stress can lead to god-awful things including, headaches, upset stomach, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, and trouble sleeping. Our school board wants the best for us, and I do not think more hours of school would make it better. For the time being, our school hours remain the
