The name "Buffalo soldiers" comes from three reasons, the first reason was because the soldiers had curly hair, which reminded the people of the buffalo. The second reason was because they were they were brave and tough. The third reason was because in the winter they wore buffalo thick coats to protect them from the freezing winter.

The author of the book, Dean Hughes, has spent 7 years doing research on World War II and finding information about the war. As they return after the war, they are left with painful experiences and traumatizing memories, suffering from their inevitable conditions. However, the spouse, families and children back at home are suffering even more than soldiers.
