They importance of collaboration and partnership between professionals and families in order to create a comprehensive support system. By including families in decision-making, goal setting, and intervention planning, these approaches aim to increase the effectiveness and sustainability of treatment and education programs. Within studies it has shown that family-centered approaches can lead to improved outcomes for individuals, as they address the unique needs and strengths of each family unit (Hallahan, Pullen, & Kauffman, 2022).

Key features of Family-Centered Care

The first feature is collaborative partnerships. FCC emphasizes the importance of building collaborative partnerships between professionals and families. It recognizes that families have unique knowledge and expertise about their child, and professionals value and respect their input (Hallahan, Pullen, & Kauffman, 2022).

Another feature of FCC is s hared decision-making. In FCC, decisions regarding the child's treatment and education are made collaboratively, with input from both professionals and families. This ensures that the perspectives, values, and goals of the family are taken into account (Hallahan, Pullen, & Kauffman, 2022).
