A popular question that is currently roaming America is, what kind of fish is safe to eat? First, there are two methods the U.S. meets their seafood supply, they are wild caught and farm raised fish. They both have their pros and cons, but I believe farm raised fish is known to be a better option due to many reasons.

I advocate that 100 percent of the U.S. seafood supply should come from farm-raised fish. There are many reasons on why I advocate this, which are; the price, the nutritional benefits and due to the less obstruction of the ocean’s ecosystems. The price aspect of farm-raised fish is that it tends to be three to four times cheaper than wild caught fish. Therefore, making it affordable for the every day American. Farm raised fish also tends to have more omega-3 fats and other beneficial fats compared to the wild caught fish. Finally, farm-raised fish does not affect the ocean’s ecosystem by using bad fishing methods, overfishing and being overexploited. …show more content…

An example of a bad fishing method is the method of using the bottom trawl. This method is when you use a metal fishing next that drags along the sea floor destroying many habitats, bottom ocean life and coral reefs. Another way wild caught fish is bad is due to overexploited, which is the fish that does not survive during the fishing process and the other species of fish such as dolphins, sea turtles, sharks and etc. that get caught during this fishing
