Swidden agriculture also known as slash-and-burn is depicted in a negative light because of myths that has been created from people who are not familiar with its practice or do not understands its purpose. One of the narrative is that it creates a useless and unsustainable land. This could be easily misunderstood as the image of the land after being burned can be seen lifeless and barren. People tend to associate a fertile land with lush greens with the sun in the background and not the image of swidden agriculture. Furthermore, media portrayal of wildfire only puts the idea that wildfire are harmful and should be put out which only makes swidden agriculture seem destructive.
Throughout the Jacksonian era an increase in culture arose. A painting titled Farmers Nooning was created during this time period that spoke out about the time. The art piece was constructed by William Sidney Mount. Growing up on a farm in Long Island until he was 17, Mount had an understanding of what he wanted to compose. The Farmers Reunion Ten years ago there was a field trip. It started like this 14 kids 3 teachers and one bus driver it was a rainy day. Everybody hopped on a bus and they took off to some historic cornfields about 40 miles away. They had lots of fun until the ride home, they drove about 5 miles till they here the bus pop and make a lot of racket then the bus starts to slow down and they come to a sudden stop. They broke down so the teachers started to walk back.
There are proposals for plans of action to address this pressing and complicated issue. Current initiatives being discussed in congress focus on creating programs that are economically feasible for larger-scale grocers to move to lesser economically desirable locations at federal level.3 These initiatives entail creating incentivized programs for large grocery companies as a possible solution to combat unequal access to healthy food options in urban and rural communities.3 However, instead the focus should instead shift to local businesses and convenience stores due to their ability to make changes without hurdling the complications of federal law. Providing incentives to local businesses and convenience stores to provide locally grown fruits and vegetables in their stores will yield greater access to fresh produce at an affordable cost to community members. These initiatives to support local food retailers would be achieved through subsidizing local grocers or providing tax relief to areas designated as food desert locations via GIS mapping software.1,3
In the video “Farmland,” there were six farmers that took their own roles in each of their farms. They each had interesting chores and responsibilities for their farming business. The video showed the importance of living on a farm and knowing what it is like because most Americans have never been on a farm or a ranch or even know what takes place with farming occupations. The public perceptions created from this are many times incorrect, causing many wrong assumptions in the public. As we watched the video, we noticed a variety of occupations for each of the farmers throughout the agriculture business.
Millet’s The Potato Harvest is a remarkable example of social realism due to its subject, style, and purpose. The Potato Harvest depicts a groups of potato farmers working in the plains. In the right foreground, the viewer can see a farmer pouring potatoes into a sack held open by a women. Then the middle ground depicts a group of women digging potatoes surrounded by the background of a warm sunlight sky that is darkening as it fades to the right.
Unfortunately, in this day and age, humans often neglect the importance of protecting the habitat of species. This farm has the opportunity to promote and educate the public on the unique species that it is home to, as well as other species in the Okanagan region. I propose that moving forward the farm should focus on the wonderful educational opportunities their establishment provides and cultivate a new generation of eco-aware students. The farm currently has a board explaining the gestation period of wallabies, and the staff proved to be knowledgeable and friendly, should you ask them a question, but it has the ability to grow substantially. I envision a future where the farm hands out pamphlets on arrival, educating visitors on the species it holds, and well as a Red Listed species in the Okanagan.
This film uses visual images, along with ethos, logos, and pathos to help uncover the corrupt side of the food industry. The beginning of the documentary spans around the inside of a grocery store that displays colorful, fresh looking fruits and vegetables in the produce section. Along with various choice of meats that

Organic food is believed to have better impact on person 's well-being and not to cause harm to people and the surrounding world due to its ecological nature. Well, I have a good interest in food so that is why I chose to write about the agriculture and the history of organic foods. Most food today is organic. Bananas which are organic protects the rainforest. What is a organic banana. It’s followed by a couple of rules that a normal company
