People throughout the years had different ways to organize the government. The medieval times used a system called feudalism, feudalism allowed everyone to receive what they desired. The manor was important in order for feudalism to advance smoothly. One of the essential roles in a medieval manor was a peasant, they were the main reason the manor was organized. Feudalism in a manor creates an economy that lets a military protect peasants who work for the upper class, by using laws.
Feudalism was a lawful system of political and military relationships existing among the nobility in Western Europe. Feudalism was based on contracts, or feudal oaths between lords and vassals (Biel 9). The core of the feudal oath was the vassal’s promise of loyalty and military service to the lord (Biel 9). For this, the lord gave his vassal a fee, or gift. The base of feudalism starts with different classes. Feudalism has three main social levels. Kings at the top, vassals/lords, and peasants at the bottom. The knights also had other duties apart from serving in wartime. The knights not only had to serve in the military but they also had certain duties in peacetime. If the king was not in war, and I would normally serve a given amount of days, usually around forty (Nardo 32). There were a certain amount of rules at night had to follow in order to be in the army.
