Field Experience Reflection

Introduction I began my field experience with the mindset that due to the fact that I have been working with kids within several other organizations I would not learn anything new. My perspective quickly changed as I faced new challenges and was given new insight that I had not encountered before. I was given the privilege of interacting with children of all ages simultaneously and most importantly I was able to apply educational concepts I have learned within this semester in real life scenarios. It was quite enjoyable to watch how the six year old played a miniature drum with so much excitement and how the older kids were also so in tune to their performance. This experience made me truly feel a sense of gratitude towards what INK does for the community and the individual lives of these kids. My Field Experience: Connections to Educational Psychology I was exposed to children of all ages ranging from infants to teenagers while volunteering at INK and therefore there are several levels of educational psychology I was able to apply. Although the ages ranged from infants to teenagers I did come to a psychological conclusion which is that regardless of age, the kids I met and interacted with a INK all share an expansive imagination. The staff at INK were all very helpful and limited their interaction with the children so that they could reach their full imagination capacity. My time at INK was exceptional because I was exposed to children of all ages in a very casual environment.
