Introduction
The intent of this report is to further explain what the data sets we prepared represent. Our data is compiled from statistics from the National Basketball Association 2016-2017 season. The reason we chose this topic was we wanted to see what really drove high and effective scoring in the NBA. The datasets below were derived from the data we extracted from https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2017.html.

It is a general consensus that at any level of basketball if a team can out rebound an opponent there is an extremely high chance that the team winning on the boards will come out on top at the end of the match. During the 2016-2017 season the team with the lowest amount of rebounds on average finished with 37 rebounds per game compared to the highest team which averaged 46 rebounds per game. The team that averaged 37 rebounds per game could have used a few more rebounds because they also ended the season with the lowest amount of points per game at 97.9. The fact that the team with the lowest amount of rebounds per game is also the team with the lowest points per game is not a surprise. It is actually what most expect, where things get surprising is that the team with the most rebounds per game did not average the highest amount of points per game. The Golden State Warriors averaged the most points per game at about 116 and they also finished top 10 in rebounds per game averaging about 45 per game. In the 2016-2017 season the Golden State Warriors led the NBA in both steals (9.6 per game) and field goal percentage (49.5% per game), the team also went on to win the NBA championship last season. Now even though the team that won the championship led in both of these categories it did not mean that the team with the fewest steals was much worse. The Cleveland Cavaliers the team that faced the Warriors in the NBA Finals had the fewest amount of steals per game with only 6.6, and they had a field goal percentage of just 39.9%.
