Over the years, people have begun to collect more and more clothes in their closets. A few shirts, one or two pairs of pants, and a jacket is what used to be simple enough for anyone’s life. Now, clothes are literally being thrown in the trash can because we don’t want them anymore. To deal with the mass use of materials such as cotton and other synthetic fabrics, the fashion industry is now having to take a turn towards sustainability. Luckily, many companies are not afraid to dive into this new idea and find new materials to use for their clothing. Some examples of clothing companies that are already using sustainable materials in their stores are Levi Strauss, Synergy, EnviroTextiles, Nike, Aquafil, Camira, and The North Face (Kaye, 2015). …show more content…
To be sustainable, the company offers organic cotton blends that involve materials such as hemp and bamboo (Kaye, 2015). By using plant fibers in their textiles, they are being mindful of their environmental footprint on the earth. EnviroTextiles is another company practicing sustainability. They are based in Colorado, and they use updated textures that look like wool or denim, but are not (Kaye, 2015).
