I agree that organizations definitely need to take precautions to ensure that the organization protects itself and its assets from aspects that can ruin the organization's reputation and what makes it successful. Further, I agree that social media is definitely a distraction because many times the various social sites take employees away from what they are supposed to be doing. Essentially, many times, we as employees become so consumed with what is presented on individual’s social site pages, in their posts, and the information they are sharing that we lose track of the key objectives and tasks we need to focus on.

Equally important, it is key that employers indicate the possible risks that the organization is subject to from employees misuse or ignorance of social sites. Likewise, the risks include (a) disclosure of valuable and confidential information; (b) indirect liability of employers; (c) increased costs; (d) system inefficiency or delays in the use of the business e-mail systems; (e) spreading of computer viruses or malicious code; and (f) loss of productivity and system inefficiency due to the use of social networking sites (Cilliers, 2013). Besides, employers should also inform employees that they should not say anything online that they would not want posted on a billboard with their face on it (Cilliers, 2013). It is so easy for organizations to instantly have their good name washed down the drain all because of something that could have been meant intentional or unintentional.
