The topic I have selected for this assessment is social platforms—specifically Facebook. It is quite an interesting case to research and probe further, because we use so much out of it from our daily lives even if we intend to or not. All sorts of social platforming, not exclusively Facebook alone, have impacted not only a specific caste (the digitally conscious) or an explicit number of people, but they have impacted arguably everyone in this world. Social platforms have also changed the way people think in every bases: commercial, artistic, legal, philosophical, and even entertainment; and not only that, social platforms have also reshaped the way humans perceive the intangibles such as life, happiness, and even love. Social platforms have changed the way humans behave, the way humans define themselves, and even the way humans live their lives. In this particular essay, I will endeavour to ask the right questions and then find the appropriate answers in response.

As part of Facebook’s Internet.org initiative, Facebook was and still is trying to provide free internet access to parts of Africa that contemporarily can’t get online (CNET 2015). Facebook stated that they would strive to provide for free internet in Africa. Facebook would then rename the website that offered the Internet services to “Free Basics” (CNET 2015). Zuckerberg would then proceed to say that the ultimate goal of the Internet.org project is to provide internet access to the two-thirds of the world who couldn’t have access to the Internet
