Fit Momma’s Fit Momma’s is a female support group for all ages, its primary focus is weight control and a healthier lifestyle. This group meets for one on one group support as well as online support for members to share anything they feel could possibly help another member. There are 98 members, but there are only 12 members that are active in sharing in the guidance and support with fellow members in developing a healthier lifestyle. The support group members meet locally, twice a month at 6:30 pm, at the Upper Room Nondenominational Church, located at 1000 Chuckey Pike, Chuckey, Tennessee. The strength that this group displays for one another is what Hutchison (2015), describes as Psychodynamic theory, which allows every member to feel and understand they are important and that healthier living makes for a better life. Psychodynamic Theory According to Hutchison (2015), psychodynamic theory “focuses on the relationship between the emotional unconscious processes and the rational processes of interpersonal interactions”. The opening statement that the President of the Fit Momma’s support group expressed, was the need to provide emotional support is essential to keep the motivation of its members and to promote their self-esteem.
