Whether it be a actor, famous athlete, or just someone you adore, they inspire you and the decisions you make. For me, that person is my mom. She is very smart, and successful. Ever since I could remember, she has been supporting any dreams or goals, I was trying to reach. My mom grew up poor. She was the youngest out of six, and and at the age of three she was placed in a foster home. She remained in foster care until she aged out of the system. I think the upbringing my mother had to go through shaped her into the leader she is today. Fonna Terry demonstrates leadership by being a positive role model, having a strong work ethic and giving back to the community.

My mom loves Rockingham Community College! She says that education is the way out of poverty and that RCC is a vehicle that enables her to assist people in obtaining a higher education and it also enables her to be able to give back to the community. She has 2 degrees and a couple of certificates, all are from Rockingham Community College. She is also in the process of becoming a Notary Public. As a Notary she will be able to assist the GED program. She said that she expects a Bachelor Degree from my brother and I. We are both enrolled in Rockingham Early College. My mom has a passion for people, as a employee at RCC she is able to donate to different charities and organizations such as United Way, the Angel Tree, the Salvation Army and she has also had the opportunity to help sponsor scholarships for RCC students . Without her in my life I have no idea where I would be. I know that if it wasn’t for her going through such great lengths for me I would have never been able to experience everything I have so far. I’m blessed to have such a caring mom to push me and help me through life. Her ability to persevere through obstacles and challenges makes her an exceptional leader and mentor. I know I will come across problems in life however, I also know that if I apply the lessons I have learned from my mother, I will be able to conquer any
