There are many different things that can impact students in their high school years. Whether these things are friends, activities, or the sports they participate in they all impact the student. I am taking the time to write a personal statement to support my application for admission into the Online MBA program, at The University of Southern California Marshall School Of Business. I understand that my previous grades and test scores were not the greatest, but I refuse to allow that to define me as a person, because I know what I am capable of as a student. I requested that The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, a college that I attended over eight years ago, send over my transcripts. These transcripts show how much I neglected my grades and schoolwork in the year 2007. I take full responsibility and admit that I slacked off during my first year of college, due to being lazy and living on my own for the first time.

I can vividly remember the advice given to me by my high school counselor. I was broken down, whispering to myself that I was not college bound. It was my counselor who made me realize that persistence was a key factor to continuing my education. The wisdom that was shared to me that day was instilled into my mind and was endorsed in my heart. I want to be the person that gives a glimpse of hope to students that need an extra push through education, just like it was given to me.
