Business schools in higher education are responsible for the development and education of America’s corporate leaders. The past years, critics of higher education have lashed out at business schools for becoming too detached from the real world issues that affect America’s economy and leadership ethics. Business schools in the United States have become more interested in gaining big donations and higher endowments than their ethical responsibilities that focus their attention on students’ education who will likely go on to work in corporate America. The Fox School owes consideration to the following stakeholders: students, alumni, the community, faculty and staff, Temple University, rating agencies, companies which hire student’s from Fox, government agencies and the American public. These are all important stakeholders that the Fox School needs to take into consideration when they identify whom their actions affect as an institution. It now important to prioritize each party involved to ensure they are all given a say and that not one party is receiving too much attention and other parties are not being heard by the direction the institution is heading. The first stakeholder to the Fox School is is the students that it is educating. Student’s pay tuition to receive a top-level business education. The Fox School and any business school should always consider the student as a stakeholder because they are directly connected to the actions’ of the school. Students who attend Fox are a powerful stakeholder because they fund the school and any shift in their importance as a stakeholder could have an adverse risk of disengagement and dropped enrollment. However, the community deserves acknowledgement because the school’s actions influence positive or negative respect from the community. If the community is ignored, people and potential students will perceive Fox as disengaged from where it is located and only an institution that cares about their own self and not to the greater part of society. The next stakeholder group, which is important to look at, is its faculty and staff. These are the people that work for the Fox School. Fox needs to pay particular attention to its faculty and staff because ignoring this group could lead to a loss of trust and ultimately could result in losing these employees to other education institutions in the area. Government agencies are the next stakeholder. This stakeholder gives funding to Temple University, which is then passed onto Fox. Government agencies are a stakeholder for Fox because Temple is a state-affiliated institution similar to Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh.
