“If there was ever an inmate who was destined to escape Alcatraz, it was Frank Lee Morris.” Many theories have come up about this group of inmates. They made an attempt to escape, but did it work? These 4 inmates tried to escape, and one was left behind. The escapees were never seen again. Some theories say they drowned in the cold, ocean water. Others say they survived and changed their ways to live a life of peace. Their names were Frank Lee Morris, Clarence Anglin, John William Anglin, and Allen West. One theory, which is the easiest answer, says that they all either drowned in the bay or got pulled under by the tides and froze to death. It’s true that people have swam from San Francisco to Alcatraz island, but they were trained to handle the tides and were very strong swimmers. The inmates had neither of these skills to the point where they did, so they had a very low chance of succeeding. Morris and the Anglin brothers made it out, having to leave West behind, using a makeshift raft. If we found out what happened, it could help make more secure prisons and would make a good topic to write and research about for students or just curious people in general. Solving this could add more tourist attractions to Alcatraz Island, and there could be escape simulations that people could do. Solving this mystery could aid is in the future if a similar prison is made, and they could do all sorts of tests to make sure there is as minimal ways to escape as possible. So, what do you think?
