His most well-known quote comes from his First Inaugural Address. The address came right after the Attack on Pearl Harbor. By saying this, Roosevelt was telling the American people that their fear was making things worse. He was advising the United States that fear can become the enemy. In general, this quote means to just fear our fears. For example, if someone is scared of something like the dark, it is not the dark that we're scared of but our fear for it. In my opinion, this quote means to overcome your fears because they can do the most damage to your life. I can connect to this quote because I used to be afraid of heights. I knew that if I did not overcome my severe phobia that this could hinder my life.
