Girl Scouts USA founder Juliette Gordon Low once said, “Scouting rises within you and inspires you to put forth your best.” As lifelong Girl Scout, I can wholeheartedly say that Girl Scouts has directly impacted the person I am today and my plans. The unique experiences and opportunities given to me helped to build character and gain life skills. Girl Scouts has aided me in developing my life vision by giving me the opportunities to discover my true passion, foster my skills and cultivate my dreams into reality. From the beginning, Girl Scouts gave me opportunities to discover me passion for helping others. As a Daisy, I can clearly remember learning the Girl Scout Promise, which specifically mentions helping others. The simple line of “To help people at all times” sparked my interest in what this truly meant. Because helping others is at the core of Girl Scouting, I was given many opportunities to volunteer. When I was a Daisy, my troop collected nonperishable food items for a local food pantry around Thanksgiving. In Brownies, the troops at my elementary school tied blankets for children in the oncology unit at the hospital across the street from my school. As a Junior, I helped …show more content…

Next year, I plan on attending college as an Elementary Education major with emphasis in English as a second language, math and reading. I will also be perusing a Lutheran Education Certificate, so I am able to work as a called worker for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. After graduation, I would like to go overseas and teach at the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Hong Kong International School in Hong Kong, China. This would give me the opportunity progress my passions for helping others and traveling.
