Galileo Galilei was one of the most influential people that lived during the Renaissance. His work in the astronomical field, including discovering and proving that the Earth was not the center of the universe, has shaped the way we think. If he had not improved and used the his telescope to look at the stars, we may still think that the sun revolves around the Earth. Leonardo Da Vinci may have been a big maker of change for his drawings of the human body and his artistic skills, but Galileo Galilei was the big maker of change because of his observations of space and physics. Galileo Galilei lived a very interesting and creative life. Galileo Galilei proved that objects fall at the same rate of acceleration. Everyone thought that heavier objects fell faster than lighter objects because of Aristotle’s philosophies, but Galileo disproved this theory by dropping two different balls, with different weight, off a tower, and they struck the ground at the same time. This means that objects fall at the same speed. Galileo also made a telescope and learned how to make stronger lenses. He used his telescope to look at outer space. He observed that Jupiter had four main moons rotating around it. Using information that smaller objects like moons orbit larger objects, he figured out that the Sun was bigger than …show more content…

One of Galileo’s greatest achievements was that he discovered that the Earth rotated around the sun instead of everything rotating around the earth. Galileo was very skilled at using and and making telescopes. He mastered lens grinding. This is where people grind and polish lenses to the correct shape for the purpose. Also, he was a lutanist. A lute is an instrument similar to a guitar. Galileo discovered that objects fall at the same speed, even with different masses. By using his telescope and his great observational skills, he was able to determine that there were four or more moons orbiting
