Article Summary:
This article by Gordon Tredgold is rather easily summarized in the title. Tredgold simply compiles a list of note worthy quotes about employee retention from various sources, ranging from Steve Jobs to to Aristotle. Aside from Tregold’s memorable yet brief opening statement at the beginning of the article, where he explains that companies often don’t involve themselves in things such as ‘employee empowerment’ as much as they should, Tregold gives little else of his own input on the matter, and instead shows an inspiring yet cookie cutter list of other people’s words. The first few statements that he gives do stand out however, where Tregold mentions that “68 percent of employees are either disengaged or actively disengaged”

For example, among the quotes that Tredgold cites, one by Timothy R. Clark, founder and chairman of TR Clark Associates LLC, says that “Highly engaged employees make the customer experience. Information/Content: 20/30 - I rate this 15/30 because even though the numerous quotes that Tredgold provides is extensive and useful, I am disappointed that he has so little to say himself. Anyone would want a piece of Tredgold’s own input in along with the quotes of others; some form of his own thoughts and opinions as well, not just the words of others. With an article that consists of nothing but someone else’s thoughts, it almost borderlines on plagiarism, but Tredgold made it clear from the title what he was trying to do.
Structure & Format: 20/20 – I rate this 20/20 due to its simplicity. The article states from the title its purpose, and instantly goes into it. With a good introductory paragraph, a few words from Tredgold, and a clean list of good HRM related quotes, the article does what it needs
