Many individuals throughout the world are being discriminated against or physically abused based on their sexual orientation, and because they don’t fit the “norm” of everyday people. Gay individuals are looked at with hatred from various cultures, and right now they are struggling for the right to legally marry, regardless of other people’s views. Many citizens of America view homosexuals in either a liberal way, or a biblical/stereotypical perspective. These two varying points make gay marriage a controversial topic, which is discussed among thousands of passionate people everyday. A lot of people in the United States have this conservative view, and for the most part, it’s for religious reasons. Most say god would never choose to make someone that way, or since he made it an abomination; it has to be a decision one must make. Religion brings strong messages that persuade someone’s everyday decisions. These beliefs are rooted deeply, just like every other religion. It is to them, as to what science is to scientists. People feel religion inside of them, which is equivalent to witnessing something extraordinary. This ties in with gay marriage because of an excerpt taken from the bible. When spiritual people interpret this saying; Romans 1:26-27: "For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error,” they will follow this saying, and obey it for their religion. …show more content…

Most Christians believe that marriage consists of one man and one women, and that marriage is holy. Others also believe that if gays get the right to marry, their marriage is going to be ruined. Pamela Haines, a professor, speaks her mind about the gay rights movement, and what it means to her. Pamela says, “Considering the insistence on legal recognition of homosexual relationships, why not find another name for a relationship between two people of the same sex? Marriage is the primordial institution institution for the propagation of the human race; it is being contested in ways like never before in history of man. “Marriage,” the exclusive relationship between one man and one woman, needs to be protected--not
